On the Path to AWAKENED CITIZENSHIP

Learning to Think and Act Like the Citizen-Kings We Are

[UNDER CONSTRUCTION]

Just as our forefathers threw off the monarchy of Great Britain, and took unto themselves the role of 'Citizen-King', we must come back to this reality.

In 1776 we 'took' the crown from King George and divided it up among ourselves.  We said we could rule ourselves and we set about doing it.  The mightiest nation on earth was formed upon the idea that citizens had the freedom to RUN their own lives as they wished, BUT ALSO that they had the responsibility to RULE their own lives well.

Today, the idea of 'freedom' or 'liberty' in the minds of an increasing number of people means, "I have the right to do whatever I want to and somebody else has the responsibility to pay for it and clean up my mess".

A democratic republic can never last with this mentality and it must be reversed.  Our culture is deteriorating rapdily as a result of individual IR-responsibility.

Chaos can increase only to a certain point before the population will clamor for a 'strong authority' to restore order.  Once this happens, we will have lost our treasured constitutional heritage to some other arrangement.  This can happen through an obvious imposition of martial law, or by a more subtle increase of regulatory powers.  A totalitarian government can take many forms.  Our powerful elitist, bureaucracy-bloated federal government can become just as oppressive as the monarchy of old.  Not just a few think it already has.

If we go slack in our diligence, watchfulness and personal responsibility, there are powerful forces out there ready to scoop up our 'citizen-kingship' and take it for themselves.  We must re-awaken individuals to the power that individual citizenship holds.   It is the key to preserving our liberty and determining the atmosphere of our social order.   Come with us as we explore and activate this concept here at CitizenKing.com.
There was a dream that was Rome . . .

and there was a dream that was America.

It lived because it was in the heart of enough Americans to make it a reality.

It will be a reality again only when it is in enough hearts to make it so.  If this does not happen, it will be lost.
The Idea That Was America
The idea of America was embodied in the ideal of the "Citizen-King".  . .  this is not a label or title that was used by the founding fathers, or anywhere else in history as far as we know.  We have locked onto the term because it captures afresh the essence of what America was meant to be.

The ideal of the "Citizen-King" is that we could take responsibility for ruling ourselves and live for our own purposes rather than for the purposes of a monarch.  We each have a great measure of freedom, and we each have a proportionate measure of responsibility.

And it worked.  Oh how it worked!  It is hard to remember what a price was paid for it, not only by our founding fathers, but by the blood, toil and sacrifice of so very many through these nearly 230 years.  We have held together as a nation because --- however we understood the idea of CitizenKingship ---  in our deepest hearts, and in our own ways, the majority of Americans believed this was a very great privilege and a very great treasure.
I'm here to enlist every man willing.
Who's with us?

        Before there was a nation . . .

                                   . . . there was a fight for freedom.
But with the passage of time, understanding of the concept has faded enough to become endangered.   A growing number of Americans now think they can forsake taking the responsibility for our social order and still maintain their freedoms.   Living with the pain of tyranny stirred a passion for freedom in our fore-bearers.   Forgetting the pain of tyranny leads us to drop our guard and forget that whether or not we remain vigilant, tyranny always does.  It watches for and seizes every opening to work its tentacles into positions of power.  We succeeded against great odds in swinging the pendulum from tyranny to freedom.  Can we succeed in keeping it from swinging back?

There is ONLY ONE WAY for our freedom to be preserved, and that is if ENOUGH CITIZENS TREASURE AND UTILIZE THEIR PIECE OF THE CROWN.  It won't come through a favored political candidate, more money for schools, strong economic growth or any of the myriad things we make issues out of.  America's secret is having a sufficient number of personally motivated, freedom-loving citizens who are sufficiently informed, sufficiently responsible and sufficiently engaged in society.    A crown is not only to be admired, but to be administered.  It is to be worn but it is also to be wielded.

It is unrealistic to think that every American will become informed and responsible.  But all it takes is a sufficient number.  What is that number?  If we have to count we're already in trouble.  And the number that it takes to make a difference can vary widely depending upon the issue and the circumstances.  We're not out to organize numbers.  We're out to convince individuals, starting with YOU, and trusting you to pass it along.
And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost . . .
